Comic Enthusiasts: Release Of Ghost Machine

In September 2023, Geoff Jones left DC Entertainment to create Ghost Machine, a corporate media company. Along with his partner Jason Fabok and other creatives, they aimed to develop and publish creator-owned comics that would revolutionize the industry. True to their word, in 2024, they released their first 64-page special issue, introducing a whole new, action-packed shared universe with fun, exciting, and strange characters.

Ghost Machine (One Shot)

Released on January 24, 2024, One Shot is a creation by Jason Fabok, Geoff Johns, Bryan Hitch, Lamont Magee, Gary Frank, and Francis Manapul. This issue briefly teases six distinct tales that will captivate and marvel all comic fans. It comes with a cover price of $4.99 and a T+ rating, making it affordable and appropriate for anyone over 13 years.

Is Ghost Machine One Shot A Good Read?

The release of One Shot marks the beginning of a new era in comic storytelling. With Ghost Machine, Geoff Jones and his team have introduced a diverse range of characters and genres that break away from the traditional superhero stories. This shift takes us back to the 80s and 90s when comic books encompassed all genres, from comedy and dramas to science fiction and thrillers. It’s a refreshing change for comic fans looking for something new and exciting.

Created by some of the best creators in the industry, One Shot is a must-read for any comic book fan. Within its brief 64 pages, it gives fans a sampling of the various genres and characters the publication has in store. It introduces new titles like Redcoat while glimpsing over titles like Geiger that have already made their way to LCS shelves throughout the past year.

However, with all the hype and anticipation for Ghost Machine as a new creator and quality-focused publisher, does the sampler live up to expectations? Here is a look at some of the stories.

Geiger

While Geiger was initially published in 2021, Geoff Jones cleverly brings the character to Ghost Machines and starts things with a bang.

In a future setup, an irradiation man wanders through the American wastelands searching for a cure. When Geiger encounters him, he offers a cure. But in exchange, the nuclear reactor sets off in search of one man like him and regains his humanity. The teaser is short, but Gary Frank’s art is always outstanding.

The Rockefellers, a 25th-century family, return to the present and participate in a futuristic protection program. Will the Rockefellers acclimate to 21st-century life enough to maintain a low profile and evade forces sent from the future to kill them?

Rook: Exodus

Exodus is a distant space colony with Wardens who wear helmets to gain control of the animals they represent. But when war breaks out and corporations pull through support, the Wardens are forced to flee, band together, or kill each other for survival.

Conclusion

Besides these three, other titles like Hornsby & Halo, Redcoat, and Hyde Street will serve you up some of the best comic storytelling there is. With that said, do yourself a favor and pick up this 64-page issue to experience the exciting new world of Ghost Machine. Keep an eye out for more issues and series coming your way in the future!
